The aim of our surveillance project is to monitor better the cetaceans populations, more particularly the humpback whales, inside the French Polynesia sanctuary by studying the risk of collision.

 

To do so, our team realizes observations from the ferry boats operating in the channel between the islands of Tahiti and Moorea. Operating on-site allows us to better understand these unfortunate collisions to then be able to anticipate and prevent them in the future. No such program existed before in French Polynesia.
