The OMM Kids educational program is an integral part of the Ocean Watch project and aims to raise awareness and educate younger generations about the issues related to the protection of cetaceans and, more broadly, the oceans, while promoting Polynesian culture. This program is aimed at CE2, CM1 and CM2 classes in the islands of French Polynesia as well as classes located in mainland France. By exporting this initiative to France, the ambition is to allow children in mainland France to discover and immerse themselves in the richness of Polynesia, a vast overseas territory, equivalent to the size of Europe. This program then becomes a real vector of sharing , bringing Polynesia into French schools and celebrating its unique heritage , its traditions and its close relationship with the ocean .

Educational kit
Each class receives a unique teaching kit, designed to facilitate the implementation of the program. It includes all the necessary materials, including individual booklets for each student, a format that has greatly appealed to teachers and children from the first year. In Polynesia, this kit takes the form of a woven basket , carefully designed to present teaching resources in an authentic way. In mainland France, it is transformed into an immersive experience, with online digital supports and interactive videos throughout the sessions. In addition, a large part of these resources has been translated into Tahitian, in order to preserve and promote the local culture while offering an enriching learning experience adapted to all.

Field trip
The program aims to mobilize children, in Polynesia as well as in mainland France, around the protection of marine mammals by creating a network of Marine Mammal Observers ( MMOs ). At the end of the program, the children will become Marine Mammal Observers and will receive a diploma. In Polynesia, they will learn to identify cetaceans, particularly the humpback whale, and will regularly record their observations in a logbook. This data will contribute to enriching the Oceania association's knowledge of their distribution. In France, they will learn to observe marine biodiversity and the impacts on the environment. Depending on their environment, they will contribute in different ways: by observing and counting cetaceans to enrich scientific knowledge, or by collecting waste to limit their impact on marine wildlife.
Intercultural exchange
Classes will have the opportunity to connect with one another, between Polynesia and France. Each student will be connected with a pen pal with whom they can exchange letters . These exchanges will allow the children to introduce themselves, talk about their environment and their relationship with the ocean. This project promotes cultural openness and strengthens ties between the two regions, while offering children a unique opportunity to discover other cultures.

OMM kids is an environmental education tool that combines with the official program of the General Directorate of Education and Teaching (Approval No. 38443) and the National Education. Through interactive sessions and captivating activities, each child strengthens their commitment and sensitivity . Our team is convinced that raising awareness among young people is a way to bring information into homes and therefore to deploy the impact of our project. Together, let's raise the environmental awareness of our children, so that everyone, at their own level, becomes a guardian of our blue planet .
